Latest Adjustments and Estimated Price Changes for June 2026

On 06 May 2026, the fuel prices were adjusted as below:

  • Both grades of Petrol (93 and 95) were increased by R3.27 per litre (retail price)
  • Diesel had a bigger adjustment with both grades increasing by R5.27 per litre (wholesale price)

The Government kept the reduced fuel levy at R3 per litre lower for now as a temporary measure in order to offset some of the increase in actual fuel costs incurred from the higher oil price and weaker exchange rate.

Why and When?

Due to the current conflict in the middle-East, Oil prices have jumped to the highest levels since July 2022 and to make matters worse, the Rand has also weakened significantly against the US Dollar – all leading to much higher fuel prices.

Rumours that the conflict in the middle East can come to an end are causing a lot of volatility on the oil and currency markets which result in our fuel prices being very unstable.

The latest price change came into effect on Wednesday May 6, 2026. The next change will take place on 3 June 2026.
